Reindeer Hunting in Nuuk Fjord
An authentic Arctic hunting experience from remote comfort camps
Reindeer hunting in Nuuk Fjord is a true wilderness experience - shaped by silence, vast landscapes, and movement through nature on its own terms.
This is an active and immersive hunt, where patience, observation, and respect for the land go hand in hand with some of Greenland’s most spectacular scenery.
From our comfortable, remote camps deep inside the fjord, we access some of the most undisturbed reindeer areas in the region - far from roads, crowds, and everyday life.
Remote Camps - Comfort in the Wild
Camp Itivi
Camp Itivi is our Nuuk-based hunting camp for the 2026 season - a fully equipped, modern cabin camp located deep in the heart of Nuuk Fjord.
Just under two hours by boat from Nuuk, the camp is surrounded by dramatic mountains and gives direct access to some of the fjord’s most productive and secluded hunting areas.
The camp consists of solid cabins with heating and running water, powered entirely by renewable energy. It is designed for hunters who want a comfortable, personal, and authentic reindeer hunt - without compromising on proximity to the wild.
Camp Kangiusaq
Camp Kangiusaq is the most remote of our camps - a comfortable glamping camp located deep inside the fjord, reached after approximately two hours by boat from Nuuk.
High mountains, meltwater lakes, and wide open terrain surround the camp, creating ideal conditions for both foot-based hunting and coastal reconnaissance by dinghy.
Spacious tent cabins offer warmth, good beds, and simple comfort, while the shared area serves as the heart of camp life - for meals, planning, and reflection after long days in the field.
The Land That Shapes the Hunt
Nuuk Fjord offers some of Greenland’s most varied and rewarding reindeer terrain. Wide valleys, rolling hills, mountain plateaus, and glacial-fed lakes create natural movement corridors where reindeer travel between feeding grounds and higher elevations throughout the season.
Here, the landscape is not just a backdrop - it is an active part of the hunt.
Reading the Terrain
Reindeer do not follow fixed routes. They move with weather, wind, and the availability of food - sometimes in small groups, sometimes spread widely across the tundra. Some days they are visible from afar, crossing open slopes or moving along valley floors. Other days they remain hidden, blending into the terrain until they suddenly reveal themselves.
This is a hunt that demands patience, sharp observation, and respect for the land.
Access Deep Inside the Fjord
From our camps deep inside Nuuk Fjord, access to the hunting areas is direct and flexible. Each day begins with quiet movement - either on foot from camp or by boat and small tender along the shoreline to reach selected valleys and ridgelines.
These transitions are an essential part of the experience. They allow time to read the terrain, observe tracks, and understand how the animals are using the landscape on that particular day.
Tradition and Experience
Hunting in Greenland is inseparable from tradition. For generations, people here have learned to read subtle signs - changes in wind, patterns in the ground, silence broken by distant movement.
During the journey and evenings in camp, our crew shares practical knowledge and experience about reindeer behaviour in the fjord: where they tend to move, how they use the valleys, and how conditions influence each day’s decisions.
A Hunt on Nature’s Terms
This is not a hunt defined by speed or guarantees. It is shaped by nature itself - by terrain, weather, and time spent moving quietly through the backcountry.
Whether successful or not, the reward lies in the experience: long days in vast landscapes, the stillness of the fjord, and the deep sense of presence that comes from hunting where the land sets the terms.
This isn’t just a hunt - it’s a full immersion into Greenland’s vast, unspoiled landscape, where every moment is an encounter with the wild. The land, the challenge, and the camaraderie of the hunt will leave you with lasting memories and a deep respect for nature’s raw beauty.

What species of reindeer do you offer for hunting?
We offer hunts for North American introduced reindeer, a species that has adapted to Greenland’s rugged terrain and harsh Arctic conditions.
How are the reindeer trophies handled?
We ensure professional handling of your trophy. Once the reindeer is harvested, we take care of:
- Field dressing and skinning
- Freezing and preservation of the hide and antlers
- Shipping to our taxidermy partner, First Class Trophy in Denmark
Once your trophy arrives in Denmark, First Class Trophy will contact you directly for further processing and taxidermy services.
Why 3 hunting days?
Our itinerary is designed to align with U.S. flight schedules, ensuring that our hunters spend the optimal amount of time in Greenland. Neither too short nor too long.
How do we hunt the reindeer?
Each hunt begins from our base camp, located deep in Nuuk Fjord’s pristine wilderness. Depending on the location of the reindeer and conditions that day, we either set out on foot directly from camp or use the boat to access nearby valleys and ridgelines. The boat is a flexible tool - useful when we need to cover more ground or scout from the water - but it's not always necessary.
Once a suitable area is identified, the stalk continues on foot. We keep hiking distances manageable, focusing on a comfortable pace and ethical shooting distances. The terrain is typically a mix of gentle tundra, open valleys, and rolling hills - challenging enough to feel like a true backcountry adventure, but accessible for most.
Scouting and patience are key elements of the experience. Whether from a boat or a ridgeline, much of the hunt is spent observing the landscape, reading signs, and waiting for the right opportunity.
What is not included in the reindeer hunting package?
- Evening restaurant meals in Nuuk
- Trophy preparation at First Class Trophy (handling and shipping are included, but taxidermy services are not)
- Personal hunting gear, rifles, and ammunition, although this can be arranged
How physically demanding is the reindeer hunt?
The reindeer hunt in Nuuk Fjord is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of physical abilities. The terrain consists mainly of gentle tundra, rolling hills, and open valleys, making it relatively easy to navigate compared to more mountainous regions.
Whenever possible, we use boats to reduce hiking distances and access remote hunting areas efficiently. In many cases, parts of the hunt involve scouting from an open boat, which helps conserve energy and keeps the overall effort manageable.
Most importantly, we tailor the pace and approach of the hunt to each guest's physical condition and comfort level. Whether you’re an experienced backcountry hunter or prefer a slower, more relaxed pace, we adapt the experience to ensure it remains both rewarding and within your limits.
What is included in the reindeer hunting package?
