Just outside Nuuk, hidden river systems wind through the tundra and feed Arctic char into cold, clear water.
This day tour pairs a scenic transfer with eight hours of guided fly fishing in waters where few people ever cast a line. The rivers are remote, no roads, no cabins, no other anglers, and the char run reliably through summer.
Guided by experienced local fishers, you'll work the runs and pools, swap techniques and stories, and eat lunch on the riverbank between sessions. Gear, transport, and lunch are all included. You bring the patience, and the river does the rest. The day is open to all skill levels; we pair the spot to your group's ability and the morning to the conditions.
Gear, transport, and lunch all included. Wild char in clear waters, far enough from the city that the only sound is your line and the river. Open to all skill levels. We'll match the pace and the spot to your group. Book your spot below.

Our local fly fishing guides stay with you through every cast, sharing the techniques and the reading of the river that only comes with experience on the water.

There is a particular thrill to catching arctic char in the rivers outside Nuuk each river holding its own character, its own pace, and its own reward.
The day starts on the water, around an hour from Nuuk harbour through the fjord to the river. From the heated cabin of the closed Targa you watch the coastline and open fjord go by, with the country you'll fish opening up as you get closer.

From the landing you walk in across tundra to reach the river. The rivers have no roads, so the approach on foot is part of the day. Your guide sets the pace and the line to the water.

You work the runs and pools with experienced local guides, changing technique as the water and light shift. Few other anglers reach these rivers, so the day follows the conditions and the char rather than a fixed plan. It is open to all skill levels, and the guides match the spot to your group.

Arctic char are sea-run here, silver fresh from the ocean and turning deep orange and red as they move up to spawn. They take a fly hard and fight well for their size, and a fish in full colour is a striking thing to have in hand.

In the late afternoon the light shifts and the char move differently, and the day wraps with the ride back to Nuuk along the same fjord. The return reads differently than the way out, the same coastline in changed light, with time on the open deck for photos.

Arctic char are some of the most northern freshwater fish in the world, and the ones worth chasing here spend the winter at sea and push up the rivers through summer to spawn. That run is what sets the timing and the spot: too early or too late and the fish are somewhere else.
It is why the day is shaped around the conditions rather than a fixed plan, and why a guide who watches these rivers makes the difference.

The surrounding landscape, with rolling hills, rocky shorelines, and complete solitude, creates an unforgettable fishing experience.
The journey from Nuuk to Eqaluit Paarliit takes about one hour by boat. The trip itself is an adventure, and if you’re lucky, you might spot wildlife like seals or white-tailed eagles along the way.
Fishing is always unpredictable, but Eqaluit Paarliit is known for its healthy Arctic char population, so the chances of a great catch are high. Our expert guides will take you to the best spots and offer tips to improve your technique, but as with any wild fishing experience, nothing is ever 100% guaranteed. Since we’ll be out in the Arctic wilderness for a full day, here are some of the items we recommend bringing:
The weather in Greenland can change quickly, so being prepared ensures you stay comfortable throughout the day.
The day starts with a scenic boat ride south of Nuuk, where we sail through the fjords toward Eqaluit Paarliit. Once we arrive, our guides will help you get set up, and you’ll have the whole day to fish in different spots along the water. We take a break midday to enjoy lunch by the water’s edge before continuing the adventure in the afternoon. As the sun begins to dip, we pack up and enjoy a relaxing boat ride back to Nuuk, reflecting on an unforgettable day in the Arctic wilderness.
Yes! At Raw Arctic, it is a strict requirement that all customers clean and disinfect their flies and hooks before arriving in Greenland. This is essential to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses that could be introduced from fish in other countries.
Greenland's waters are pristine, and we are committed to keeping them that way. Even microscopic contaminants from previously used fishing gear can pose a risk to the delicate ecosystem. By disinfecting your flies, you help protect Greenland’s wild fish populations and ensure a sustainable fly fishing experience for future generations.
