A few days deep in Nuuk Fjord, where the pace is set by nature

Far from roads and far from town, Camp Isua is surrounded by mountains, rivers and open fjord. Hike the valleys with our local guides, catch and cook your own dinner, and end the day in the sauna tent.

‍

No crowds and no rush. Just a small camp, a chef taking care of the meals, and days shaped by the weather.

Some evenings, we gather in the main tent and light the qulleq, the traditional Greenlandic soapstone lamp once used for light, warmth and cooking through the long Arctic winters.

In June, the valley around Camp Isua turns green. It is a short, intense season, and you get to live right in the middle of it. Our tents sit on the open plain below the mountains, with room to stand, a proper bed and the sound of the river close by. Simple, comfortable and exactly where you want to wake up.

Welcome to Greenland's capital

Your journey begins in Nuuk, where the city meets the fjord and the mountains rise right behind the houses. After landing, check in to your accommodation and take the rest of the day at your own pace. Walk along the old colonial harbour, visit the national museum or simply enjoy the view over the water.

Later in the day, our team meets you for a short briefing about the days ahead, so you know what to pack and what to expect before heading into the fjord.

‍

Into the heart of Kangerluaarsussuaq

In the morning, we meet at the harbour and set out by boat into Kangerluaarsussuaq. Steep mountains, glacier-carved valleys and open water pass by as we sail deeper into the fjord and further away from town.

Arriving at Camp Isua, you get settled into your tent and meet the camp team. In the afternoon, we take a first walk around the valley to get a feel for the place, before sitting down to the first dinner at camp.

‍

Hike, fish, cook and slow down

The next four days are yours to spend in the valley. Our guides plan each day based on the weather and the group, with hikes along the Isua River, up on the ridges overlooking the fjord, or relaxed walks along the shore. Along the way, you learn about the land, the plants and the animals that share the valley with us.

Some days, you spend a few hours with a rod in hand, then bring your catch back and learn to clean and cook it the Greenlandic way. Our chef takes care of the rest, with hearty meals built around local ingredients. In the evenings, the sauna tent is fired up, and some nights we gather in the main tent around the qulleq for stories and good company under the light June sky.

‍

One last morning in the valley

Wake up to a final breakfast at camp and take a moment to enjoy the quiet before it is time to pack up. Say goodbye to the valley, the river and the tents that have been home for the last few days.

The boat ride back through the fjord is a chance to take in the mountains and open water one last time. We arrive in Nuuk in the afternoon, and the evening is free to enjoy the city, find a good restaurant and look back on the days in the wild.

End your journey with warm farewells

After breakfast at the local hotel, transfer to the airport for your return flight.

‍

Depart with unforgettable memories of fishing in Greenland's pristine rivers and the camaraderie of a shared adventure.

Good food, warm sauna, light nights

Bring your catch back to camp and learn to clean and cook it the Greenlandic way. Our chef takes care of the rest, with hearty meals built around local ingredients.

‍

When evening comes, the sauna tent is fired up. Sit in the heat, step out into the Arctic air and take in the fjord under the light June sky.
