From late May to early August, Nuuk barely gets dark. The sun dips low and only briefly below the horizon, and the sky holds a long gold and pink light through the small hours.
This guided two-hour evening cruise takes you out into the fjord at the latest hour, when that light is at its richest.
Closed boat, warm cabin, and an open deck for photos. The cruise runs late. We leave the harbour close to midnight and return as the light shifts again, a quieter, sister experience to our winter Northern Lights tour.

Our Targa boats provide optimal viewing both from the heated cabin and the spacious open deck, where the low arctic sun reshapes the fjord hour by hour.

Every tour is shaped by weather, wildlife, and light. The fjord is never the same twice, and that is exactly what makes it worth returning to.

Nuuk sits just south of the Arctic Circle, so it does not get the true midnight sun where the sun stays up around the clock. What it gets instead are white nights: around the solstice the sun drops low and only briefly below the horizon, and the sky never goes fully dark.
From late May into August that leaves a long band of gold and pink light through the small hours, which is the window this cruise sails in.

Yes, if you visit between early June and late July, you will experience the midnight sun, where daylight stretches nearly 24 hours. Even outside of this peak period, summer days in Nuuk are long, with stunning golden sunsets that last for hours, bathing the Arctic landscape in a unique, dreamlike glow.
This tour is entirely boat-based. For safety reasons, we do not step on the icebergs. However, we get as close as safely possible, giving you an incredible view of the towering ice formations. If you’re looking for an experience where you can step on land and see the ice from the shore, check out our Icefjord Bay Adventure or Create Your Own Adventure for a customized trip. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll help plan the perfect Arctic experience.
Nuuk Fjord is the second largest fjord system in the world, stretching over 160 km into Greenland’s interior. The fjord is a mix of towering mountains, ancient glaciers, and deep, untouched waters. Unlike many other fjords, it’s easily accessible from the capital, making it a perfect way to experience Greenland’s vast wilderness without traveling far.
The chances of seeing icebergs on this tour are very high but as with all things in nature, we can’t offer a 100% guarantee. The fjord is regularly fed by active glaciers, often sending spectacular ice formations drifting into the fjord. Some are small and crystal-clear, others are towering and streaked with deep Arctic blue. Since conditions change daily, every tour offers a unique perspective on Greenland’s raw and ever-shifting landscape.
