Twenty minutes by boat from Nuuk, a small set of cabins sits on the water at Maaluto. Wood-fired stoves, a sauna on the shoreline with a fjord plunge a few steps away, gas-stove cooking, no electricity. The kind of place where the day is shaped by the weather, not the clock.
It's open year-round, long summer evenings under the midnight sun, deep winter silence under the aurora. Tell us when you'd like to come and we'll arrange the transfer and the timing.

Experience the warmth of the Remote Arctic Sauna in the cabins of Maaluto. Located close to the water for a true Greenlandic cold plunge.

See northern lights in the winter, from the remotely located cabins.
Maaluto sits on the water just past Nuuk, reached in 20 minutes by boat. Once you arrive, the fjord opens up, mountain walls dropping into deep water, fishing boats moving slowly in the distance, the lights of the capital visible across the bay at night. It feels remote without being far.

The cabins run on wood and gas. Stoves keep the rooms warm and dry; a small kitchen runs on gas for cooking; light comes from lanterns and the long summer evenings. The sauna sits on the shoreline with a few steps down into cold fjord water, the kind of contrast that becomes the headline memory of the stay.

In summer, the cabin year runs late, long evenings under the midnight sun, fjord paddles at midnight, the sauna warm against cool air. In winter, the same cabins go quiet under aurora. Two completely different stays at the same address. Tell us when you'd like to come and we'll match the timing to the experience you're after.

Most guests settle into a two- or three-day stay. Boat transfer out from Nuuk in the early afternoon, sauna and dinner on arrival, evenings by the wood stove. Days are open, short paddles in the fjord, walks along the shore, a long sauna, reading, sleeping. Boat transfer back when the weather lines up.
Some stays lean into stillness, books, the sauna, watching the fjord change colour through the day. Others build out around an activity: a fishing day from the cabins, a guided hike up the slope behind, a photography focus through the midnight sun or aurora. The cabins handle both equally well.
Talk to us about the dates and the time of year you're after, and we'll arrange the transfer and any add-ons around the cabin stay. The first conversation is usually about what you want the days to feel like.
Everything you need to know about this tour — from key details to what you can expect during the experience. If you can’t find your answer here, we’re always here to help.
Yes, you can! The cabin is warm and comfortable, with large windows so you can enjoy the scenery from inside. But we always encourage guests to step out on deck at least for a little while—feeling the crisp Arctic air and taking in the fjord views up close makes the experience even more special.
Absolutely! We actually recommend bringing your own waders and fly fishing gear for the best experience. If you don’t have your own, rental equipment is available, but it must be booked in advance. Our guides will also provide advice on the best flies and techniques for the conditions that day.
Yes! But capturing the auroras requires a bit of technique. A camera with manual settings, a tripod, and a long exposure mode will help you get the best shots. Smartphone cameras have improved a lot, but using night mode or a dedicated aurora photography app will give you better results. Our guides are happy to share tips on how to photograph the lights if you need help.
To confirm your spot at Camp Isua, we require a deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due before departure, with the exact payment schedule outlined in our booking terms. This ensures flexibility while securing your place on this exclusive expedition. If you have any questions about payment plans or terms, feel free to contact us.
